Blinded by the Floodlights is delighted to announce the launch of a new podcast feature on the impact and legacy of The Strokes 2001 debut album Is This It in the UK. It looks into how the iconic record kickstarted a new guitar revival in the UK and investigates the guitar scene and bands that suddenly sprung up in its aftermath.

There are contributions from The Strokes producer Gordon Raphael, Blinded by the Floodlights founder and writer Matthew McLister, Either/Or music writer Andrew Lambert, Check This Out! writer Kiley Larsen, radio host and indie fan Sophie (aka Purpl Macaron) and Blinded by the Floodlights contributor Josh Robinson.

We start by discussing the dire state of the UK guitar scene by the new millennium, how Gordon Raphael met The Strokes and the instant hype that began after the release of The Modern Age EP.

We then discuss the making of Is This It, the sudden impact and acclaim it had and how it resonated more in the UK more than the US. With a look at bands like the Arctic Monkeys and The Libertines, we also discuss how it changed the UK music landscape and the legacy it holds today.
